Privacy Policy
We keep this simple: your privacy and control matter. This page explains what we collect and how we use it.
What we collect
- Information you provide directly, like an email if you sign up.
- Local app data such as notes (if you do not use AI, see below), preferences, and history stored on your device.
- Voice interactions when you use Voice Mode — audio is used only to provide the voice features and can be turned off.
- AI conversation logs — We log your AI conversations (this may include your notes and extracted documents' texts associated with the conversation) strictly for the purpose of identifying and resolving errors when they occur and to detect and prevent misuse of the service.
- Device ID — A randomly generated identifier assigned to your Hover installation. It is not tied to you personally. Used strictly for debugging and abuse prevention.
- Encrypted IP address — Your IP address is collected in an encrypted form. Because it is encrypted, we are unable to determine your precise location from it. It is used solely for abuse prevention.
Digital Assistant & AI Features
Hover includes a Digital Assistant feature that allows you to interact with AI services directly from your device.
- No sensitive information is stored locally — Hover does not store passwords, credit card numbers, or other sensitive personal information on your device.
- AI processing — When you use the Digital Assistant or any AI-powered features, your messages and queries are sent to third-party AI providers (such as OpenAI, Alibaba, or other AI service providers) for processing.
- Zero retention policy (what this means) — We only use AI providers who maintain a strict zero retention policy. This means the provider commits to not storing, logging, retaining, or using your messages for any purpose — including AI model training — after your request has been answered. Your conversations are processed in real-time and immediately discarded from their systems.
- Important limitation: While we select providers based on their zero retention commitments, we cannot independently verify that a specific individual, company, or government authority would not be able to access data on these providers' infrastructure. With this in mind, you should never share personal, sensitive, financial, health-related, or identifying information when using Hover or any LLM-powered service for that matter.
- Local notes storage — Any notes or content you explicitly save within the app are stored locally on your device only, unless you choose to use backup features or use AI-powered features that may send your content to third-party providers.
How we use your information
- To make Hover work for you — for example, to power Voice Mode and save your settings.
- To back up your content only when you choose to use backup features.
- To improve reliability and fix issues that affect your experience.
- AI conversation logs, device IDs, and encrypted IP addresses are used strictly for debugging and abuse prevention. They are never sold, shared with advertisers, or used for any other purpose.
Your choices
- You can disable Voice Mode and Digital Assistant features anytime in settings.
- You control backups and can delete backed-up data.
- All locally stored notes and app data can be deleted directly from the app.
- Contact support to request data removal or ask questions.
